Gina and I have just returned from South Africa. This year 1999, has in spite of the setbacks and disappointments, ended with a great miracle!! Heb. 12:17. Three weeks ago we received a call from Durban, South Africa. The head nurse, Sister Brown, was concerned. My 90-year-old mother was seriously ill. She was so badly infected with pneumonia that she wasn’t even talking, and Mom is Jewish! James 5:13-16.

We called Pastor Vergil Schmidt of Fellowship Community Church in Midland. Pastor Schmidt got on the phone and in no time, found that Alice Brown and her husband at Christian Life Center had bonus air miles they were willing to donate for our trip. We needed only to pay for a small part of the fare. We had a way to visit Mom – and minister to her! Eph 4:29; I Pet 4:9.

Jack and Joan Heintz of "Peace for Israel" called Dr. Dino Pedrone of New Testament Baptist Church in Miami, Fl. They raised some expense money and so did Pastor Vergil. We were on our way!! Baruch Ha Shem. Praise the Name of the Lord! Lk 8:3; Heb 6:10

It’s a LONG flight. When we arrived, Mom was very sick. We began to pray for her – and she just GOT WELL! Daily she improved! One week later – after much prayer – we, after having explained the plan of salvation to her over the week, invited her to accept Yeshua as her personal Savior. Mom assured us that she did indeed understand. We led her in a sinner’s prayer. Immediately, a wonderful peace enveloped us all! The peace that passes all understanding. Phil 4:7. The presence of God’s Holy Spirit. Next day, Sister Brown – a born-again Christian – confirmed the peace Mom exhibited! Rom 8:16. The African staff nurse, a deeply committed Christian, also knew that we had a blessing beyond our hopes! Ps. 138:7.

Why? Well, my mother is a direct descendant of King David and King Solomon! Her Yehudi Nefesh, Jewish soul, is now reconciled to God’s and our Holy Moshiach, Messiah. She has given us a Jewish heritage from the House of David, Ps 30:1 – to witness first to our Jewish people and then all people - about the Greater David Ha Melech (King David the Messiah – Yeshua) Matt 1:1; 9:27. I had wrestled with God many days and nights – to save Mom. Her Hebrew name is Chanah-Elisheva; in English, Hannah Elizabeth aka "Betty." Thanks to Christians who heard the need and acted on it! Without them, we could not have gone to South Africa and a soul may have perished! All glory to God, blessed be He!

As we begin the new millennium 2000 we pray for a NEW beginning. We trust the Lord for a true t’shuva, i.e. true repentance for the body of Messiah/Christ. Much of the latter 90’s has been of a questionable nature. Now is the time for re-evaluation of our priorities and standards in the faith. That is – if we truly desire GOD – SENT revival. Isa 57:15. Corporate and personal agendas, whether "religious" or other, can be at best/worst, spurious. We trust that in 2000, not our words, but GOD’S WORD will prevail –. Hos 6:1-3; I Cor 14:33.

May this coming year, should God tarry, result in a harvest of souls as never seen before! Through the centuries MANY doctrines, creeds, distinctives and denominations have been formed/formulated. We often use the term LOCAL church or local body. Many interpretations are available today. I Cor 14:10. We trust that "walls of partition" will be in the minority and as we pray for revival, it will come- Ps 85:6 – as we truly become ONE BODY of Messiah. Surely many will be saved. God still answers prayer and still performs miracles. Deut 34:11; Acts 2:43.

Continue to pray with us and for us as we do for you. Phil 1:9; Col 1:9; I Thess 5:23-25; II Thess 1:11; 3:1.

We learned shortly before leaving for South Africa that our paper work requesting our own tax number, had not been mailed out in April as we had thought. Pray for the man who held back our papers without our knowledge. Because of this man’s interference we have lost much promised support. "Peace for Israel" will continue issuing receipts and we thank God for their continued support.
